Drill Objective

This soccer passing and combination drill focus on passing combination play through the central midfielder players.

This soccer passing and combination drill focus on passing combination play through the central midfielder players.
Drill setup
  1. Create a 30x20 yard grid.
  2. Place a player on each of the four corners of the grid.
  3. Along each sideline, place two central players.
  4. A corner player will start with the ball.
Drill Instructions
  1. Player 1 starts with the ball and plays into the farthest of the two midfield players.
  2. The farthest midfield player then plays to the other midfielder near him, who then plays the ball to the corner player (Player 2).
  3. Player 2 then plays the ball into Player 1 who is approaching Player 2's corner.
  4. Player 1 plays across the grid to Player 3.
  5. Player 3 returns the ball to the approaching player Player 2.
  6. Player 2 plays into the midfielder farthest from the ball and the play repeats around the grid.
Drill Variations
  • Play in 1-touch only.
  • Reverse the direction of play.
